Ruby Mae Carter

Ruby Mae Carter  86, of the Guffie Community in McLean County went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 15, 2016 with her family by her side.  Ruby Mae Knight was born September 1, 1929 in McLean County, Kentucky to the late Joseph Levi and Daisy Mae Towery Knight and was married to Arthur Carter on June 4, 1950.  Ruby was a homemaker and member of Calhoun Christian Church.  She enjoyed gardening and growing her fruit trees.  In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Arthur Carter, Sr. and a daughter, Shirley Angel.

          Survivors include three sons and their wives, Arthur Wayne Carter (Nora), Charles Carter (Debbie), and William Carter (Vendi) all of Island; four daughters and their husbands, Jo Anna Moore (Steve) of Owensboro, Deborah Carter of Guffie, Donna Burden (Jerry) and Sherry Capps (Gary) both of Calhoun; fifteen grandchildren and their spouses, Tabitha Stewart (Eric), Jonathan Angel (Anitra), Annie Ocasio (Angel), Amy Hayden (Nathan), Crystal Clark (Jeff), Stephen Moore, Jr. (Billie Jean), Emily Carter, Dwayne Carter, Elliott Carter, Jeremy Carter (Tamara), Daniel Carter (Angelia) Jason Carter (Michelle), Ryan Carter (Jessica), Adam Carter (Steevie), and Todd Capps (Janice); 25 great grandchildren; two brothers, William Knight of Fordsville and Charles Ray Knight of Calhoun; several nieces and nephews.

          Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Calhoun Christian Church with the Rev. Keith Sage officiating.  Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery in McLean County.  Friends may visit with Ruby’s family from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday and from 8:30 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. Thursday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel.
