James L. Brown  85, of Livermore, Kentucky died Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at his home in Livermore.  James Lewis Brown was born August 26, 1930 in Livermore, Kentucky to the late Clyde and Irene Williams Brown, was married to the former Lavada Jean Baldwin on June 5, 1951, and was also known as “The Candyman” to his family and friends.  He was a member of IBEW Local #1701, retired as an electrician from Alcoa Aluminum Company, was a member of Livermore General Baptist Church, and an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War.  He was a University of Kentucky basketball fan and enjoyed spending time with both his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a son, Les Brown and by two sisters, Reta Williams and Katherine Fulkerson.

          Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Lavada Brown; two sons, Malcolm Brown and wife, Cindy and Paul Brown both of Livermore; a daughter, Sherry Daugherty and husband, Roger of Central City; eight grandchildren, Todd Colburn, Robin Hayden, Michael Brown, Brad Brown, Russel Brown, Thomas Brown, Dusty Brown, and Ryan Brown; 10 great grandchildren; and a brother, Ford Brown of Owensboro.

          Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel with the Revs. Clive Bell and Becky Case officiating.  Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in McLean County with Military Honors conducted by the McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5415.  Friends may visit with James’ family from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Sunday and from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Monday at Musters in Livermore.

          The James L. Brown family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Baptist Health Hospice, Patient Care; 418 Scott Street; Madisonville, Kentucky  42431.  Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Musters in Livermore.
