To the Tip Hemingway Family

I'm very sorry to learn of death of my good friend Tip Hemingway. When we were both young, 1950, Tip "posted" me in preparation for my travels in the Masonic tridition. I recieved my 65 year pin from the Monsarratt Lodge this year. Sorry I could not be there today for the funeral and visit with mutual friends at the Glenville Baptist Church. I pray God's blessings on each of you.

Dear David and Sara: Please accept our sympathy on the loss of Tip. We enjoyed our association with him. We first met when your Mother, David, managed the Daviess County Conservation District office. It was an enjoyable relationship. Lucy & Tom Neal

I read online the other day that we should strive to be the kind of person that when someone mentions our name, it will bring a smile to their face. Tip was one of those people. He would come into the shop occasionally when we ran our business and it was always a pleasure to see him coming. We could just stand and talk for half a day! Tip didn't try to impress anyone with what he knew or what he had, as long as you knew that he had his Lord and Savior. Tip was a true gentleman and he will be missed by everyone who knew him. I send my condolences to his family, but you and I know where Tip is now. He's making someone else smile.

Dear Tom, Sheila and all the family,
I did not know your dad very well but he used to stop in my shop, DeJa Vu, which was in the same plaza where your mom was under going therapy. He talked about you and was obviously very proud of his family. I pray that God will give you comfort as you adjust to his loss.

Tommy and Susie,
I was so glad I came to the family reunion with Mom and Dad on June 25. To see him once more and see him smiling was such blessing. My heart hurts for you at his loss but I know we will see him again. May the Lord place his arms around you and fill you with peace.

Tommy, David, Suzie and Sara, I was so sorry to hear of your loss. Being that I just lost mom back in June I know how difficult the days are ahead. I can still see where your dad would sit in the old church. When I would see him, he always ask about my boys and how basketball was going. I looked around one night at one of my oldest Brad's games and there was Mr. Tip just wanted to come watch him play. That meant so much to me that he took an interest in them. He reminded me of my dad, such a sweet man you dad was. Find comfort in knowing where he is and that he is once again with Ms. Mary.

Hemmingway family,
With my fathers forty seven years of service to the phone company, my family has had the opportunity to meet many many good people. I can say without hesitation that Tip Hemmingway was one our most liked an without question the most respected.
When my mother passed away in 2011 we were discussing how many phone company people might attend her visitation. Dad had passed some 25 years earlier an a lot of his an moms friends from the company had passed or were in their elder years. I told my siblings I didn't know how many might visit but I knew one for sure.
Moms visitation was on a Sunday an about a hour into it I introduced my good friend who had just arrived to my sister Mary Lois. She looked at him an said Buuba said you would be here. I will never forget that smile on his face.
A couple years later at a high school baseball game while watching his grandson play he recalled that story to me, he was very proud of that an the fact that our family had such a respect for him. I always enjoyed seeing him an sitting an talking. He would always thank me for my time, but it was me who shoulda been thanking him
My prayers are with you all an may my good friend Tip rest in peace.

Our entire family are grieved at the loss of Tip. What a wonderful, dear, sweet man that Heaven has gained. We will never forget how he welcomed us into the arms of Glenville Baptist Church when we first arrived. He never failed to speak with us or ask after mom and dad, we feel truly blessed to know such a God fearing man. We know that your hearts are broken at this time of your loss but hold on to the knowing that you will see him again on the other side of the Jordan. Love to you all!
