Lena Hayden Tanner 87, died June 22, 2015 at her home in Beech Grove. Lena Ethlyn Hayden was born December 3, 1927 in Cleopatra, Kentucky to the John Truman & Annie Smith Hayden and was married to John Harold Tanner on January 4, 1947. Lena retired as a group leader from GE in Owensboro after 37 years. She was a member at Mt. Liberty Baptist and then Calhoun Baptist Church and enjoyed helping and spending time with her family and friends, cooking, and traveling. In addition to her parents Lena was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Harold Tanner, who died July 30, 2002; a son-in-law, James E. Martin; brothers, J.T. Hayden, Carl Hayden, Hugh Hayden, and Clint Hayden; and a sister, Marilyn June Browning.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy Martin of Beech Grove; a son and daughter-in-law, Glen & Cheryl Tanner of Beech Grove; six grandchildren, Brad Martin, Brent Martin, Kristi Martin, Davin Tanner, Kyle Danielle Tanner and wife, Danielle, and Haley Ellis and husband, Josh; five great grandchildren, Lane Braxton, Eva Claire, Chaney Elizabeth, Tate Huxton, and Ty Hutton; a brother, Ray Hayden; a sister Ann Helm; two caregivers, Bonnie Burden and Judy Peters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with Rev. Franklin Skaggs and Dr. Richard Sams officiating. Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with Lena’s family from 9:30 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Musters in Calhoun.
