I only just found out about Gene’s passing. I have remembered fondly the small group of UK students that I was a part of the summer we worked the freshman orientation. Gene was part of that group.

I only recently learned of Gene's death. Gene was unforgettable. I knew him at UK when he was involved in Student Government Always fun to be around and ever ready with a joke, a quip, or a funny story, his humor was contagious. I've known few people who enjoyed themselves and others as much as Gene. Our paths diverged after graduation and I seldom saw him and only occasionally heard news of him from others. Learning of his death struck me hard, but also summoned the finest memories of a fine man with a warm heart. I know heaven is a livelier place with his generous brand of humor sending peals of laughter across its gentle fields. Rest in peace and sublime comfort, old friend.

To Gene’s family, so sorry for your loss. Gene was a brilliant man. He was so kind to my 85 yr old crippled mother at my niece’s wedding. He got her out of her wheel chair & supported her while he danced with her. She was thrilled. Gene will be missed.

Your dead will live. My corpses will rise up. Awake and shout joyfully, You residents in the dust! For your dew is as the dew of the morning, And the earth will let those powerless in death come to life."(Isaiah 26:19) This prophecy tells us that one day we will see our dead loved ones again in a new world! Please seek Jehovah god to see his promises fulfilled.....

Very saddened to hear of Genre's passing. Floods of good funny memories of Gene and my late sister, Sharon May-Johnson, who were good friends for years. He spent a lot of time talking to my Dad and family on his visits to Frederica Street in Owensboro. I pray for God's Grace & Calm for Gene! What a wonderful young man he was!!! Friend of the people ♡
Prayers and peace for all of Genre's family.

This is such sad news. Gene was a friend from UK and I just can't think of him without smiling, because he was always smiling, so full of energy and sweet as could be.
I am so very sorry for your loss. My prayers are with your family.

My sincerest sympathy to Gene' s family.

I have such fond memories of working on campaigns with Gene through the 90s.

He was always full of heart and helping people. He loved making us laugh. Spontaneous outbursts of Louis Armstrong are one of my fondest memories of Gene.

Gone too soon, but at peace now. He was genuinely loved by his Young Democrat family, including me.
