Wayne Carter 70, of Island, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Arthur Wayne Carter was born November 28, 1954 in McLean County, Kentucky to the late Arthur and Ruby Mae Knight Carter and was married to the former Karen Ranae Anderson on December 9, 2019.
Arthur earlier worked as a diesel mechanic at Green Coal Company and then was a co-owner and operator of Carter Brothers Trucking with his brother. He was a member of Island Church of God of Prophecy and a volunteer at God’s House of Hope in Island. Wayne loved the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, and gardening.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Harold Carter and a sister, Shirley Mae Angel.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Karen Carter; two sons, Dwayne Carter of Owensboro and Elliott Carter of Louisville; a daughter, Emily Carter of Owensboro; two step sons, Sawyer Whitaker and Austin Whitaker both of Island; three step daughters, Tosha Gilpin (Ty) of Portland, Oregon, Randi Whitaker (Sam Coots) of Turney, Missouri, and Madison Whitaker of Island; 7 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; a great-grandson; a brother, Carroll Carter (Vendi) of Island; and four sisters, Jo Ann Moore of West Louisville, Deborah Carter, Donna Burden (Jerry), and Sherry Capps all of Calhoun.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Friends may visit with Wayne’s family from 11:30 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Saturday at Musters in Calhoun.
