Virginia Gieseke 96, of Owensboro, Kentucky, formerly of Calhoun passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at her home in Owensboro under the care of HPC – Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. Virginia Lee King was born December 23, 1927 in McLean County, Kentucky to the late Paschal Lee and Addie Wilson King and was married to Ellis Ray Gieseke on October 6, 1945. Virginia retired from the McLean County Board of Education after 20 years of service as a cook and was a member of the former No One Left Behind Tabernacle in Calhoun. She enjoyed cooking, reading, and listening to gospel music. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Ray Gieseke, who died April 20, 2017 and by two brothers, Edward King and Harold King.
Virginia is survived by two daughters, Diana Howard and Joy Blincoe (Wayne) both of Owensboro; a granddaughter, Jennifer Bugg (Ashley) of Henderson; a great-granddaughter, Maddie Bugg; and a brother, Eugene King (Helen) of Owensboro.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 21, 2024 at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with Virginia’s family from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. Friday at Musters in Calhoun.
The family would like to express their appreciation to her caregivers, Tammy Lane, Barbara Leibfreid, and Janet McCarty for the years of wonderful care and personal attention they have given to Virginia, as well as Kara and the staff at HPC.
