Sitter Ayer

     Sitter Ayer  92, of the Buel Community in McLean County, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2026 at her home.  Lula Pearl Ashton was born September 26, 1933 in Calhoun, Kentucky to the late Harvey Jake and Fallie Mae Martin Ashton, was married to Edward Mason Ayer on April 24, 1953, and was better known as ‘Sitter’ to both her family and friends.

     Sitter was a homemaker and a member of Calhoun United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed cooking for everyone, watching gameshows, reading, and spending time with both her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

     In addition to her parents, Sitter was preceded in death by her brother, Billy Jake Ashton.

     Sitter is survived by her husband of 73 years, Edward Ayer; a son, Keith Ayer of Calhoun; a daughter, Kathy Triplett (Danny) of Owensboro; two grandchildren, Kyle Ayer (Laura) and Sarah Baker (Levi); four great-grandchildren, Noah Ayer, Michael Moore, Atley Baker, and Brady Baker; and a sister-in-law, Pat Ashton of Calhoun.

     Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel.  Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery in McLean County.  Friends may visit with Sitter’s family from 12:00 P.M. (noon) until 3:00 P.M. Wednesday at Musters in Calhoun.

     The Sitter Ayer family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Calhoun Cemetery, Iron Fence Restoration Fund; C/O John Howard; 400 Guy Settle Loop; Calhoun, Kentucky  42327.

     The Ayer family appreciates Kim and Amy for the special care they provided to Sitter.
