Sandra Maglinger Obituary

Sandra Maglinger  61, of Island, Kentucky passed away Monday, January 20, 2025 at the Heartford House in Owensboro.  Sandra Kay Phelps was born June 29, 1963 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Archie and Pearl Delmont Kennedy Phelps and was married to Michael Wayne Maglinger on July 25, 1990.  Sandra's life was marked by her unwavering devotion to her family, her compassionate career as a Licensed Practical Nurse, and her deep faith.

For 35 years, Sandra served her community as a Licensed Practical Nurse.  She retired with a reputation for having a profound impact on the lives of her patients and their families, leaving behind a legacy of care and compassion that will be long remembered in the medical community.

Sandra's interests and activities reflected her love for life and people.  She was an avid reader, finding both solace and adventure within the pages of her favorite books.  Her faith was central to her life, and she was an active member of Knobbs Church of God of Prophecy.  Sandra found great joy in fellowshipping with her church family, and she had a particular fondness for spending time with the children at her church.

Above all, Sandra cherished the moments spent with her family and friends.  Whether it was a quiet evening at home or a lively gathering with loved ones, she embraced every opportunity to create lasting memories—especially with her beloved grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

Sandra's presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. Her laughter, her kindness, and her unwavering strength will remain as a testament to a life well-lived and a woman well-loved.

Sandra shared a beautiful and enduring love with her husband, Mike Maglinger, to whom she was married for 34 years.  Together, they raised a family that included their son, Michael 'Bubby' Maglinger of Owensboro and three daughters, Brandy Gross (Matt) of Livermore, Rebecca Tanner of Island, and Taylor Beth Maglinger of Island.  Sandra also held a special place in her heart for her niece, Kayla Woodward of Hawesville, who was like a daughter to her.  Sandra's legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, Lucas Mauzy, Gavin Mauzy, Sadie Tanner, and Maci Mauzy; her brother, Larry Phelps of Owensboro and her two sisters, Rachel Bradley of Owensboro and Mary Ann Woodward (Todd) of Hawesville.
