Michael ‘Mickey’ Howard 68, of Slaughters, Kentucky passed away Monday, June 1, 2026 at UofL-Jewish Hospital in Louisville. Michael Gene Howard was born August 20, 1957 in Owensboro, Kentucky to the late Nat Carol and Anna Blythe Marksberry Howard, growing up on the family farm in Calhoun along with his two brothers. He was married to the former Debra Marie Benson on September 27, 1980, and was better known as ‘Mickey’ to both his family and friends.
Mickey was a 1975 Graduate of McLean County High School. He was the owner and operator of Howard LLC in Calhoun, a business that he started over 25 years ago. Mickey was a member of Slaughters Community Church, and an avid pilot. He was proud to share his love of aviation by flying over 100 youth from the Young Eagle Program.
Mickey was currently serving on the Madisonville Regional Airport Board, was a lifetime member of American Bonanza Society and a lifetime member of both Experimental Aircraft Association and Vintage Aircraft Association. He enjoyed flying, camping, and spending time with both his family and friends. Mickey enjoyed outdoor activities such as traveling anywhere, either by plane or motorhome with his family, riding side by sides, and admiring God’s beautiful creation. He also greatly loved spending time with his new granddaughter, Lainey Blythe.
Mickey is survived by his wife of 45 years, Debbie Howard; a son, Chad Michael Howard of Slaughters; a daughter, Brittany Lovan (James Paul) of Slaughters; a granddaughter, Lainey Blythe Lovan; and two brothers, Rodney Howard (Patty) and Nolan Howard both of Calhoun.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 5, 2026 at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in the Slaughters Cemetery in Webster County. Friends may visit with Mickey’s family from 2:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Thursday and from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Friday at Musters in Calhoun.
