Merle Alvey 91, of Calhoun, Kentucky passed away Sunday, February 8, 2026 at the Heartford House in Owensboro. Eva Merle Frashure was born May 18, 1934 in McLean County, Kentucky to the late Gobal and Lottie Pate Frashure and was married to Ronald Farrel Alvey on July 18, 1953.
Merle was a homemaker, earlier worked at the Cigar Factory in Owensboro and for the turkey processing facility near Owensboro, and was a member of Nickel Ridge Holiness Church. She also enjoyed caring for both her yard and all of her flowers.
In addition to her parents, Merle was preceded in death by two brothers, Hugh Frashure and Chester Frashure; and by three sisters, Oretha Stratton, Mary Alvey, and Pauline Lawson.
Merle is survived by her husband of 72 years, Ronald Alvey; a son, Gary Alvey (Debbie) of Calhoun; a daughter, Ronda Daugherty (Tommy) of Centertown; five grandchildren, Jason Alvey (Rhonda), Aaron Alvey (Tiffany), Holly Patton (Mike), TJ Daugherty, and Danielle Cameron (Logan); and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with Merle’s family from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Thursday at Musters in Calhoun.
