Laura Riley 83, of Calhoun, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 5, 2018 at her home in McLean County. Laura Ellen Rhodes was born February 3, 1935 in Daviess County, Kentucky to the late Hugh and Jennie Mae Barr Rhodes and was married to Darold Bryant Riley July 25, 1953. Laura was a homemaker and member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Calhoun. She enjoyed University of Kentucky Basketball, bird watching and caring for her flowers. In addition to her parents, Laura was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Darold Bryant Riley, who died June 15, 2007; two great granddaughters, Riley and Taylor Ferguson; a great grandson, Dennis Bryant; two brothers, Thomas Rhodes, Jr. and Charles Rhodes; and two sisters, Thomasine Weise and Julia Jennings.
Survivors include two sons, James Bryant Riley (Cindy) and Darold Joseph Riley (Lannette) both of Calhoun; five daughters, Cindy Wills, Barbara Stinnett both of Owensboro, Brenda Travis (Phil) of Casselberry, Florida, Rita Riley of Calhoun, and Pauline Kay Burden (Gary) of Cromwell; 19 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; three brothers, James Rhodes of Haubstadt, Indiana, Martin Rhodes of Utica, and George Rhodes of Livermore; and two sisters, Rose Roberts of Owensboro and Martha Kaelin of Cadiz.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday at St. Sebastian Catholic Church with the Rev. John Ighacho officiating. Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with Laura’s family from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday and from 8:00 A.M. until 9:30 A.M. Friday at Musters in Calhoun. Prayer services for Laura will be held at 6:00 P.M. Thursday at Musters in Calhoun.
