Junior McDole Obituary

 

Junior McDole 88, of Calhoun, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 02, 2018 at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson.  William Lee McDole, Jr. was born March 14, 1930 in McLean County, Kentucky to the late William Lee McDole, Sr. and Pansy Daniels McDole, was married to the former Grace Fulkerson on May 3, 1969 and was better known as Junior to both his family and friends. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952-1954 where he was awarded a purple heart and several other medals before discharge. Junior was a member of Calhoun Holiness Church, McLean County V.F.W. Post #5415, D.A.V., Calhoun Masonic Lodge #423 F.& A.M., Kentucky Colonel, and a member of “The Veterans Quartets” that sang at the McLean County Court House during the 1960s.  He managed the Calhoun I.G.A. for 19 years, retired after 30 years of service at Kentucky Revenue Services, and was elected McLean County Judge Executive in 1990 when they voted to build the McLean County Senior Citizens Building.  In his retirement years he enjoyed trading and selling used cars.  In addition to his parents, Junior was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Carl Purcell; a grandson, Billy Purcell; sister and brother-in-law, Ruby & Kirby Crabtree; and mother and father-in-law, Vernon and Angeline Fulkerson.

          Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Grace McDole; two daughters, Dawnell J. Purcell, and Melody K. Baughn (Mike); a son, Mark R. McDole (Margaret) all of Calhoun; step daughters, Sondra Austin Hayden (Joe) of Owensboro and Tamra Adams (Barry) of Daphnie, AL; step son, Dennis C. Austin of Calhoun; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; a great great grandchild;  several nieces, nephews, and a world of friends; and a special family member Vicki Austin.

          Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with Dr. Richard Sams and Dwight Howard officiating.  Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery in McLean County with Military Honors conducted by the McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5415.  Friends may visit with Junior’s family from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Sunday and from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Monday at Musters in Calhoun.  Masonic services will be held at 5:00 Sunday during visitation.
