John Franklin Priar, Sr. 70, of Calhoun, Kentucky passed away Monday, July 27, 2026 at his home in Calhoun. John Franklin Priar was born January 22, 1956 in Owensboro, Kentucky to the late John Samuel and Myrtle Helen McDole Priar, was married to the former Patricia Ann Tooley on January 14, 1980, and was better known as John or Frankie to both his family and friends.
John was a warehouse manager and truck driver for Henry A. Petters Supply in Owensboro and a member of Glenville Baptist Church. He loved hunting, watching western movies, and going back in time with ‘Gunsmoke.’
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Virgil Griffith Priar.
John is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patricia Priar; a son, John Priar, Jr. of Owensboro; two daughters, Chancey Luttrell (Junior) of Calhoun and Samantha Barrett (T.J.) of Grandview, Indiana; three grandchildren, Lydia Barrett, Jasper Barrett, and Elodie Barrett; and a sister, Margie Hill (Dennis) of Glenville.
Family services will be held at a later date. There will be no public visitation. Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel is handling the arrangements for John’s family.
