John Woosley 82, of Calhoun, Kentucky passed away Friday, April 17, 2026, surrounded by his wife and children. John Henry Woosley was born January 31, 1944 in Rumsey, Kentucky to the late George Thomas and Pauline Miller Woosley.
John spent his lifetime farming, first with his father and then as owner. John worked hard, and he loved boating, fishing, and always enjoyed a good joke. He married the former Betsy Elise Jones on March 18, 1961, when he was 17 years old and she was 15; they raised each other. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. John loved his family dearly.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a son, Danny Woosley and his brother, Buddy Woosley.
John is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betsy Woosley; a son, Tommy Woosley (Deana) of Calhoun; a daughter, Amy Woosley (Joseph Piacentini) of Vienna, Virginia; 10 grandchildren, Ryan Woosley (Elizabeth), Garret Hall (Ashleigh Hankins), Jack Hall (Melissa Becker), Morgan Woosley (Lamar McGuire), Spencer Woosley (Olivia Harned), Jade Woosley, Alexis Woosley, Brittany Sutherlin (Eric), Tyler Gardner, and Anna Piacentini (Andrew Beer); and 13 great-grandchildren, Zayan McGuire, Rollins Woosley, Freya Hall, Zalaya McGuire, Areia Hall, Kaileah Hall, Zuri McGuire, Benny Woosley, Maverick Sutherlin, Mason Sutherlin, Oaklyn Beer, Zaire McGuire, and Jayden McGuire.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hope Cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with John’s family from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Musters in Calhoun.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Riverside Care and Rehabilitation Center in Calhoun for their kindness and generosity to John and his family during his stay.
