Herman ‘Pos’ Colburn 91, of Island, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 25, 2025 at Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson. Herman Lee Colburn was born January 31, 1934 in McLean County, Kentucky to the late Herman and Dorothy Lee Bolton Colburn, was married to the former Linda Faye Ashby on March 23, 1956 and was better known as ‘Pos’ to both his family and friends.
Pos was a member of Island Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday School Director and as a teacher. He was the owner and operator of Colburn Building Services. Pos was a licensed master plumber and a member of the concrete finishers union local # 193.
Pos was a U.S. Marine Veteran of the Korean War and a University of Kentucky Basketball fan. He also enjoyed bowling, quail hunting, and going to flea markets.
In addition to his parents, Pos was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashley Carver and by a brother, Carl Colburn.
Pos is survived by his wife of 69 years, Linda Colburn; a son, Tony Colburn of Island; a daughter, Kathy Lowery (Dennis) of Greenville; four grandchildren, Dustin Colburn (Jessica), Alexandra Colburn, Logan Lowery (Magan), and Ben Lowery (Meredith); six great-grandchildren, Landon Carver, Laney Colburn, Cade Colburn, Theo White, Ella Lowery, and Hunter Lowery; a brother, Eddie Colburn of Livermore; and a sister, Willadean Ratliff of Livermore.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel. Burial will be in the Island Baptist Cemetery in McLean County with Military Honors conducted by the McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post # 5415. Friends may visit with Pos’ family from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at Musters in Livermore.
