Elizabeth ‘Sis’ Ashby 81, of Greenville, Kentucky passed away Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. Elizabeth Jean Humphrey was born December 14, 1944 in Calhoun, Kentucky to the late Chester Ellison and Louise Mitchell Howard Humphrey, was married to Ernest Franklin Ashby, Jr., and was better known as ‘Sis’ to both her family and friends.
Sis retired from Ahlstrom Filtrations in Madisonville and was a member of Livermore Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed working puzzles, playing computer games, caring for her dogs, gardening, and spending time with both her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Sis was preceded in death by her husband, Jr Ashby, who died March 10, 1970; by her daughter, Stacy Ashby Burden; and by three brothers, Mason Humphrey, Steve Humphrey, and Chester ‘[Sambo’ Humphrey.
Sis is survived by a son, Lacy Ashby (Melissa Hawks) of Livermore; a son-in-law, John Burden (Courney Douglas) of Greenbrier, Tennessee; two granddaughters, Cinamon Burden (Michael) and Makayla Smith; two great-grandsons, Roman Burden and Atticus Burden; a brother, Robert Earl Humphrey of Livermore; a sister, Lydia Taylor (Henry Glenn) of Island; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Livermore. Friends may visit with Sis’s family from 12:00 P.M. (noon) until 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Musters in Livermore.
