Darrell ‘JJ’ McCaslin 67, of Calhoun, Kentucky passed away Sunday, November 30, 2025 at the Heartford House in Owensboro. Darrell James McCaslin was born March 7, 1958 in Owensboro, Kentucky to James Verne and Zella Katherine Jones McCaslin, was married to the former Janie Ruth Davis on March 15, 1987 and was better known as ‘JJ’ to both his family and friends.
Darrell was a 1976 Graduate of McLean County High School. He retired from Nutrien in Sacramento and was a member of the Methodist faith. Darrell was a firearm enthusiast, enjoyed watching old western movies, and loved spending time with both his family and friends, especially his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Darrell was preceded in death by his father, Verne McCaslin, his brother, Dennis V. McCaslin and by a great-granddaughter, Emma Knight.
Darrell is survived by his wife of 38 years, Janie McCaslin; two sons, William McCaslin of Owensboro and Jason Gray (Jill) of Calhoun; two daughters, Catie McCaslin Schutte (John) of Calhoun and Sonya Lee of Owensboro; eight grandchildren, McKenzie Lee, Presley Ayer (Josh), Senior Airman Gatlin Gray (Shelsie), Sarah Schutte, Briley Gray, Zach McCaslin, Rachel Schutte, and Dakota McCaslin; five great-grandchildren, Emersyn, Henry, Miley, Adalee, and Eden; and his mother, Zella McCaslin of Calhoun.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with Darrell’s family from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday and from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Musters in Calhoun.
