Charles Gish Obituary

 

 

Charles R. Gish  93, of Semiway, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.  Charles Robert Gish was born November 8, 1924 in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky to the late Ellis and Maureen Green Gish, he met his wife, the former Imogene Conrad on a blind date and they were married June 10, 1944.  He was a retired coal miner and a member of Sacramento Cumberland Presbyterian Church.  Charles was a member of U.M.W.A., a member of Sacramento Lodge # 735 F. & A.M. and a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.  He enjoyed watching old western movies, playing his harmonica, singing, and spending time with both his family and friends.  In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Jean Gish, who died June 12, 2015 and by his sister, Willadean Campbell.

          Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Everly (Michael Crowe) of Owensboro and Tracy Barnett (Danny) of Semiway; eight grandchildren, Cory Walker (Candace), Sara Englehardt (Robert), Kiele Moorman (Marty), Joshua Everly, Kara Miller (Adam), Marc Barnett, Allison Crowe, and Cecilia Crowe; and thirteen great grandchildren, Trey Englehardt, Maurice Moorman, Abby Englehardt, Bailei Walker, Melia Moorman, Nate Englehardt, Riley Walker, Malik Moorman, Lucas Crowe, Eli Englehardt, Kileah Everly, Channing Miller, and Braxton Miller.

          Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday at Sacramento Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Steve Delashmit, John Butler and Kevin Brantley officiating.  Burial will be in the Sacramento Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery in Sacramento.  Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel is handling the arrangements for Charles’ family.  Friends may visit with Charles’ family from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Saturday and from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. Sunday at the church.

          The Charles R. Gish family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; 501 St. Jude Place; Memphis, Tennessee  38105-1905.  Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at the church and Musters in Calhoun.
