Alton Taylor Free 88, of Livermore, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at his home in Livermore. Alton Taylor Free was born June 5, 1937 in the Buttonsberry Community of McLean County, Kentucky to the late Ernest Lee and Eunice Taylor Free and was married to the former Melanie Lee Frizzell on June 21, 1958.
Alton was the co-owner and operator of Free and Jarvis Building Supply in Livermore and currently a member of Buck Creek Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Faith Riders. Alton was earlier an active member of Livermore Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, bus ministry leader, and helped both design and construct the CLC building.
Alton was a member of Gideons International. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, classic cars, spending time with both his family and friends, and sharing the word of Jesus.
In addition to his parents, Alton was preceded in death by four brothers, Gene Free, James ‘Hammer’ Free, Bennie Free, and Shelton Free; and a sister, Addie Lou Free.
Alton is survived by his wife of 67 years, Melanie Free; a daughter, Tammy Embry (Bruce) of Livermore; three sons, Jeff Free, Alan Free (Kim) both of Livermore, and Keith Free (Susan) of Hendersonville, Tennessee; twelve grandchildren, Christoper Embry (Jo Lynn), Justin Embry (Miranda), Logan Embry (Beth), Troy Free, Kristy Free, Seth Free (Kimie), Briawna Ward (Tanner), Abbie Free, Alex Free (Lauren), David Christian (Bethany), Emily Free, and Sarah Free; sixteen great-grandchildren, Kailey Embry, Kollin Embry, Mackenzie Park, Landon Embry, Jase Embry, Karolynn Embry, Lexie Graves, Tyler Graves, Cole Free, Kylie Free, Emersyn Ward, Cash Ward, Lakelyn Free, Tripp Christian, Callum Christian, and Parker Christian; a brother, Eddie Free (Janice) of Owensboro; and a sister, Ora Caudle of Marietta, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, October 24, 2025 at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel. Burial will be in the Green River Memorial Gardens in Livermore. Friends may visit with Alton’s family from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Thursday and from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. Friday at Musters in Livermore.
