Terry Abney, of Calhoun, Kentucky went to be with his wife on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. Terry Lee Abney was born June 1, 1947 in Calhoun, Kentucky to the late William Roscoe and Gladys Hayne Abney and was married to the former Shelia Nell Brown September 13, 1968. He was a graduate of Calhoun High School and received an associate’s degree from Owensboro College of Business. Terry was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and retired in November of 2010 from the U.S. Postal Service in Owensboro. He was a member and served as President for 12 years of the Owensboro Area Postal Workers Union and was a member and served as Editor for three years of the Kentucky Postal Workers Union. In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Shelia B. Abney, who died November 11, 2014.
Survivors include a son, Jason Abney (Carla) of Owensboro; a daughter, Trisha Abney-Doyal (Paul) of Owensboro; two granddaughters, Madeline Abney and Kendell Abney; five brothers, Bill Abney of Cincinnati, Jerry Abney of Calhoun, Darrell Abney of Maysville, Kentucky, Russell Abney of Davenport, Florida, and Norman Abney of Wake Forest, North Carolina; and three sisters, Betty Ann Gray of Princeton, Kentucky, Judy McCart of Conyers, Georgia, and Debbie Blus of Calhoun.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with the Rev. Franklin Skaggs officiating. Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery in McLean County with Military Honors conducted by the McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5415. Friends may visit with Terry’s family from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday and from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Musters in Calhoun.
