Richie Ellis

Richie Ellis 86, of Owensboro, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 in Owensboro.  Richard Hugh Ellis was born June 2, 1931 in Sacramento, Kentucky to the late Isaac Jefferson and Rosalee Baggett Ellis, was married to the former Elizabeth Ann Huff September 28, 1957 and was better known as “Richie” to his family and friends.  He retired as a cook from the Crounse Corporation, was a member of Calhoun Baptist Church and an Army Veteran of the Korean War.  Richie was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed both wood-working and fishing.  In addition to his parents, Richie was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Ellis and by three sisters, Norma Jean Miller, Mary Sue Settle and Barbara Beasley.

          Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Ellis; a son, Troy Lee Ellis of Owensboro; a daughter, Bettina Hardesty and husband, Joseph of Hartford; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a sister, Nelda Catlin of Sebree.

          Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with Dr. Richard Sams officiating.  Burial will be in the Poplar Grove Cemetery in McLean County with Military Honors conducted by the McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post # 5415.  Friends may visit with Richie’s family from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Thursday and from 10:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Friday at Musters in Calhoun.
