Philip G. Calvert 61, of Island, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 5, 2019 in McLean County. Philip Gregory Calvert was born October 5, 1957 in Madisonville, Kentucky to the late Sherman Lee and Dorothy Brasher Calvert. Philip retired from Dunaway Timber Company in Fordsville, earlier worked for more than 20 years at Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer, was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Livermore, and a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving on the U.S.S. Independence. He was an active ‘Right to Life’ supporter and won the 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award because of his dedication. He loved his horse, Poncho as well as all of his animals. In addition to his parents, Philip was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Calvert and by a great niece, Larkin Majors.
Survivors include two brothers, Ronald Calvert (Phyllis) of Owensboro and Tony Calvert of Island; two nephews, Michael Calvert (Katie) and Isaac Calvert; four nieces, Sarah Robinson (Glen), Cynthia Petit (Travis), Erika Calvert and Mariah Calvert; several great nieces, great nephews and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at St. Charles Catholic Church with Father John Ighacho officiating. Burial will be in the St. Charles Cemetery in Livermore with Military Honors conducted by the McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5415. Friends may visit with Philip’s family from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday and from 9:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. Friday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel. Prayer services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Musters in Livermore.
