Paul Gilbert 73, of Utica, Kentucky went to be with his Savior on Sunday, May 20, 2018 in Owensboro. William Paul Gilbert, Jr. was born July 10, 1944 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late William Paul and Frances Pauline Kenodle Gilbert and was married to the former Martha Ellen Terry March 3, 2007. Paul’s father was killed as the result of a car accident when he was 3 years old. He was adopted by his paternal grandparents, William Thomas and Laura Gilbert. Paul was an ordained minister and loved his Savior. He worked for Hopkinsville Power Company but his favorite job was driving 18 wheelers, from which he retired. Paul served his county in the Army National Guard for 7 years, was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and loved campfires and spending time with both his family and friends. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by a nephew, Scott Alan Gilbert.
Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Martha Gilbert; two sons, Bryan Gilbert and wife, Amy of Hendersonville, Tennessee and Larry Gilbert, Sr. of Clarksville, Tennessee; five daughters and their husbands, Terri and Ron Person of Rothberry, Michigan, Cheryl and Donnie Peters, Missy and Terry Hagan, Christy and Johnny Fulkerson, and Terri and Randy Fitzgerald all of Owensboro; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Jim and Donna Gilbert of Plano, Texas; 2 nieces and a nephew.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with the Rev. Kenny Stone and Mr. Rod Kuegel officiating. Burial will be in the Nickel Ridge Cemetery in Daviess County. Friends may visit with Paul’s family from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday and from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Musters in Calhoun.
The Paul Gilbert family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hospice of Western Kentucky, Patient Care; 3419 Wathens Crossing; Owensboro, Kentucky 42301. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Musters in Calhoun.
