Frankie Whitmer 67, of Island, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at his home in Island. Jerry Franklin Whitmer was born April 12, 1951 in McLean County, Kentucky to the late Arvin Franklin and Barbara Beatrice Lamb Whitmer and was married to the former Thelma Jane Dukes. Frankie was a retired carpenter and member of Southeastern District Volunteer Fireman in McLean County for more than 40 years. He was an Island City Commissioner and loved mowing, caring for several yards in the neighborhood, going to auto races and spending time in his “Shed.” In addition to his parents, Frankie was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Whitmer, who died October 1, 1998.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Trina and Derrick Thaxton of Owensboro; a son, Jonathan Whitmer of Owensboro; his companion, Brenda Edmonds Burch of Island; her children, Michelle Smith, Patricia Carman and Crystal Crowe all of Livermore; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a brother, Terry Whitmer of Island; and three sisters, Loretta Emery of Utica, Bonnie Strong of Livermore and Kay Anderson of Island.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Sunday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel with the Revs. Barney Priar and Bobby Lott officiating. Burial will be in the Island Community Cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with Frankie’s family from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Saturday and from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Sunday at Musters in Livermore.
