Gene Tichenor

Gene Tichenor  60, of the Guffie Community of McLean County passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at his home in Guffie.  Marvin Eugene Tichenor, Jr. was born March 9, 1957 in Owensboro, Kentucky to the late Marvin Eugene and Mary Elizabeth Englert Tichenor.  He was a member of the Catholic Faith, a graduate of the University of Kentucky, where he served as Student Body President, and attended University of Louisville Law School.  Gene was a life-long Democrat.  He was the youngest elected member and served 2 terms for the Lexington Fayette Urban County Council, he served as an investigator for the Attorney General’s Office under Steve Beshear, and worked under Paul Patton in the Governor’s Office.  Gene ran for State Representative in 2000 and was always involved in politics, especially fundraising.

          Survivors include three brothers and their wives, David and Julie Tichenor of Owensboro, John and Laura Tichenor of Madisonville, and Neil and Lisa Tichenor of Henderson; a sister, Jacinta Peters of Calhoun; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins, including a special aunt, Jacinta Garinger of Owensboro.

          Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with Father Patrick Bittel officiating.  Friends may visit with Gene’s family from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Musters in Calhoun.
