Austin Brice Ruffin

Austin Brice Ruffin  12, of Rumsey, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville.  Austin Brice was born July 1, 2005 in Owensboro, Kentucky.  Austin was a 7th grader at McLean County Middle School, would have been a member of the 2023 Graduating Class of McLean County High School and attended Calhoun Baptist Church.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, 4-wheeler riding, and spending time with both his family and friends, especially his grandparents.  Austin was preceded in death by his grandmother, Dena Sue Kessinger.

          Survivors include his mother and step father, Jana and Darron Brawner of Rumsey; his father, Jon Kyle Howell of Island; his grandparents, Gary and Lisa Kessinger of Calhoun, Judy Brawner and Norman Smith of Calhoun, and Joan and Kyle Howell of Island; three brothers, Trae Ruffin, Jackson Ruffin, and Clay Brawner; a sister, Cati Brawner; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

          Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at Calhoun Baptist Church with the Revs. David Fortner and Richard Sams officiating.  Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery in McLean County.  Friends may visit with Austin’s family from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday and from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Friday at Calhoun Baptist Church.  Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel is handling the arrangements for Austin’s family.

          The Austin Brice Ruffin family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Austin Brice Ruffin, Memorial Fund; C/O Muster Funeral Homes; P.O. Box 160; Calhoun, Kentucky  42327.  Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at the church and Musters in Calhoun.
