Lucille Crow Obituary

Lucille ‘Lucy’ Crow  99, of Livermore, Kentucky passed away Monday, April 22, 2024 at her home in Livermore.  Lucille Howard was born October 17, 1924 in McLean County, Kentucky to the late Alexander Eck and Mamie Harrison Howard and was married to Edward ‘Buck’ Crow on December 19, 1939.

Lucille was a homemaker and earlier retired in 1988 from the former Charles Chips Factory in Calhoun.  Lucille or ‘Lucy’ as everyone knew her was a funny, loving Christian woman.  She loved to talk on the phone with her friends and family and be in “the know” of all the happenings with her friends, family and within her community.  Lucy loved to travel, and although she couldn’t drive, she was always ready to go.  She loved to go to “town” (Owensboro) for shopping trips and meals out.

Lucy was a member of the Livermore Missionary Baptist Church, where she was an active member of the Senior group.  Her church family was like her second family.  She loved to travel with the Senior group at Livermore Missionary Baptist Church.  Several people have said that traveling with Lucy was the best because of how she made them laugh.  Lucy visited Hawaii, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and many more places with the Livermore Missionary Baptist Senior group.  Church was her home away from home.  Lucy made sure to get her kids and grandkids to church, even if that meant walking or riding the church bus.  She knew this was the most important thing, so that they too, would know Christ.  Anytime there was a potluck, funeral meal, wedding, or special occasion, there was always a dish provided by Lucy.

Lucy loved to care for her family and friends.  You never came to Lucy’s house without her asking if you were hungry or thirsty.  She loved company and any opportunity to entertain folks in her home.

Lucy loved any holiday that brought her family together to her home where they could enjoy the big meal that she cooked.  Christmas was her favorite because she loved to give gifts.  Lucy’s spirit of giving was the perfect way for her to show her charity and grace to those she loved.  She was the most humble, patient, and kind mother and grandmother.  Lucy always said she would live to be 100.  She almost made it and gave it her best shot.

When Lucy was diagnosed with dementia, she had one request, that she would be able to stay in her home until the end.  Over a decade later, two of her grandchildren, Wesley and Kimberly held true to that promise.  Lucy passed peacefully at her home.  She went into the presence of the Lord, who she loved with an amazing love, and knew that love was returned, and was greeted by so many who had gone on before her, who she had been longing to see.  Although Lucy will be missed, her life was full, long and beautiful.

In addition to her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, Buck Crow, who died June 7, 1980; by a son, Freddie Crowe; by two daughters, Becky Miller and Sue Dutschke; by a granddaughter, Amy Crowe; and by a great grandson, David Dutschke.

Lucy is survived two sons, Jerry Crowe (Shirley) of Rumsey and Larry Crowe of Fordsville; two daughters, Jean Miller (Bill) and Lois Bowman (Tony) both of Livermore; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
