Murlene Boyd

Veda Murlene Boyd  93 of Beech Grove, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center in Calhoun.  Veda Murlene Dodson was born April 28, 1924 in McLean County, Kentucky to the late Donald Trevor and Vera Jane Sumner Dodson.  She retired after more than 30 years of service at the former Charles Chips plant in Calhoun and was a loyal member of Beech Grove Christian Church.  Murlene loved working in her yard and flowers, working crossword, jigsaw and word search puzzles.  She also enjoyed shopping, flea markets, sewing, and crocheting.  In addition to her parents, Murlene was preceded in death by three brothers, Wendell Dodson, Loy Dodson and Gene Dodson.

          Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Glover (Larry Coghill) of Calhoun; a son, Wayne Boyd (Kathy) of Owensboro; five grandchildren, Tana MyIntyre (Chip), Kevin Glover (Deanna), Gina Orr (Les), Lesley Boyd, and Rachel Ward (Brandon);  nine great grandchildren, Emily McIntyre, Erin McIntyre, Hayden Glover, Sam Glover, Amelia Orr, Conrad Orr, Layla Ward, Tanner Ward, and Amelia Ward; several nieces and nephews.

          The Veda Murlene Boyd family would like to the entire staff of Riverside for the love and care given to their mother and grandmother.

          Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with the Rev. Jim Midkiff officiating.  Burial will be in the Bethel Baptist Cemetery in McLean County.  Friends may visit with Murlene’s family from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday and from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Musters in Calhoun.
