Laura M. LaPlante

Laura M. LaPlante  44, of Calhoun, Kentucky, died Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.  Laura Marie Wathen was born November 1, 1970 in Owensboro, Kentucky to Joseph Vernon and Anna Faye Payne Wathen and was married to James Michael LaPlante, Jr on February 10, 1990.  She was a 1988 Graduate of Apollo High School, a homemaker, and member of the Calhoun Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  Laura dedicated her life to Jehovah and was baptized on February 9, 1983 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  Her faith and ministry were integral to her life and she regularly shared her hope for the future with others.  Laura was easily recognized by her infectious smile and curly chestnut hair but what was especially beautiful was her personality.  Her loving concern for others was shown throughout her life in the many selfless acts she performed.   

          Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Jay LaPlante; two sons, James Michael “Micah” LaPlante, III and Collin Joseph LaPlante both at home; her parents, Joseph and Faye Wathen of Calhoun; a sister and her husband, Karen and Mike Stierle of Fayetteville, Arkansas; a brother and his wife, Scott and Amanda Wathen of Guyton, Georgia; along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins in her extended family.

          Memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday at the Owensboro Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses; 2208 Tamarack Road; Owensboro.  Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel is handling the arrangements for Laura’s family.
