I am praying that your family be comforted through this sorrowful time. The pain of death is hard. God knows our pain and provides us with comfort. (Psalms 9:9&10). He promises us that we will see our loved ones again. John 5:28 tells us that he will remember our loved ones and give them life again. Revelations 21:3&4 provides us with a future promise that soon God will remove death forever. May this promise give you comfort and hope. NJones

So sorry for your loss. May the God of comfort bring you peace during this difficult time. Very soon the Bible says that death will be gone forever! (Revelation 21:3,4) We will no longer have to experience losing a loved one again. May the wonderful promises in the Bible bring you comfort.

I'm so sorry to hear of Judge Whitaker's death. He was a great man, and I had a lot of respect and affection for him. Even though elected officials and journalists don't always seem to be on the same side, he never failed to be friendly -- not just courteous or respectful but actually friendly -- and helpful to me, both on and off the job. I considered him one of my favorite people in McLean County. I'll always remember him fondly.

We grew up together at the Calhoun schools. We remember fondly our time together and Larry's service as basketball manager and band major.

More recently, his perseverance in the face of daunting odds as he battled a fatal disease for more than a decade reflects his abiding optimism and enduring character.

Larry was a former Calhoun High School classmate.We shared several laughs and talks together as students.I like to share with you one funny story that took place in Mrs Mildred Nall homeroom.We located two dead mice laying in the floor.We decided it would be funny to place said mouse on Mrs Nall cheese sandwich in the frig .We also decided mouse number 2 should go with us to Mrs.Kittenger 1st period class.We place number 2 mouse in her chair.She always entered the room saying mor ing class and polling down in her chair.Just about the time she oliver we also heard mrs.Nall scream.Needless to say we were all very quite about who did the deed.This was a funny side of him.We also shared talks about life and God.Larry invited me to go with him to a bible study on Sunday night taught my Mr.Tommy Fullerton.I remember it like it was yesterday .We prayed and smiled and our hearts were lifted .As we left that night we had a new hope for tomorrow.Im truly pleased I shared a small moment of time in his life.Im saddened for his departure from this world But know without a doubt he in heaven with his heavenly father and others from his family that have gone before him.Please except my deepest sympathy as we say goodbye to our dear friend.love Dev young Briody

Every time I walked in his office in the Court House I thought of this: We Believe:
That Faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life;
That the brotherhood of men transcends the sovereignty of nations;
That economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise;
That government should be of laws rather than of men;
That earth’s great treasure lies in human personality;
And that service to humanity is the best work of life.

This is the Creed of the US Jaycees that was written in 1946, but line by line it simply describes Larry B. Whitaker.

Sincere condolences from Reva & David

I'll never forget the chat we had that ended with the establishment of Myer Creek Archers. I think Larry was as excited as I was. Larry loved McLean County and it's people and he worked long and hard to make us known and appreciated state wide. McLean County has lost a real champion and it's people have lost a good man and a valued friend. I would like to send my prayers and my condolences to his entire family.

I remember the day Larry came into the office telling me of his plans to run for judge. We talked for hours....his excitement for McLean County could not be contained. We talked for hours and went on to work together on a lot of great projects. You can see their results even today. A great friend who truly understood how to make government work for the people. I'll miss him.
