Jean Furniss

Jean Furniss  83, of Calhoun, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Redbanks Nursing Home in Henderson.  Alma Jean Thomas was born September 5, 1933 in Webster County, Kentucky to the late Walter and Mary Griffin Thomas and was married to John Claude Furniss in 1957.  Jean was a homemaker, a cook at Windy Hollow Restaurant, and member of Calhoun Baptist Church.  She enjoyed reading, baby-sitting children of Calhoun, and spending time with both her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Furniss, who died March 16, 1978 and by a grandson, Steven Zimmerman, who died February 10, 2017.

          Survivors include a son, Jimmy Hall of Calhoun; a daughter and her husband, Angela and Larry Zimmerman of Calvert City, Kentucky; 3 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; a brother, Maurice Thomas of Twin Lakes, Wisconsin; and a sister, Shirley Woosley of Rumsey.

          Graveside services will be held at 3:30 P.M. Saturday at Calhoun Cemetery in McLean County with Dr. Richard Sams officiating.  There will be no public visitation.  Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel is handling the arrangements for Jean’s family.
