Jean A. Ayer  98, of 8530 Kentucky 81; Owensboro, Kentucky died Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Riverside Manor Health Care Center in Calhoun.  Jean Adrian Ayer was born February 12, 1917 in McLean County, Kentucky to the late Alpha Forrest and Bertha Peak Ayer and was married to the former Dixie Elizabeth “Polly” Cravens on July 11, 1946.  He retired as a heavy equipment operator, was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, and enjoyed quail hunting.  In addition to his parents, Jean was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Polly Ayer, who died March 4, 2006.

          Survivors include two sons, Tom Ayer and wife, Tracy of Owensboro and Forrest Ayer of Burlington; a daughter, Jo Carol Ayer of Charleston, South Carolina; 3 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.

          Private family services will be held Wednesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel.  Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery in McLean County with Military Honors conducted by the McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5415.  Friends may visit with Jean’s family from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Musters in Calhoun.

          The Jean A. Ayer family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Calhoun Cemetery, Beautification Fund; C/O Winfred Williams; P.O. Box 201; Calhoun, Kentucky  42327.  Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Musters in Calhoun.
