Doris Shultz  80, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 22, 2016 surrounded by her loving family at her home.  Doris Jean McKinley was born February 25, 1936 in Ohio County, Kentucky to the late Bryant Shultz “Buck” and Esther Lee Greer McKinley and was married to Jerry Melvin Shultz on June 6, 1954.  Doris was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker who enjoyed flowers, gardening, cooking, and being with her family and friends.  For many years, she worked alongside her husband on their family farm in the community of Matanzas and was a faithful member of Richland Baptist Church where she served as Adult Sunday School teacher.  In the 70’s, Doris was an advocate for the early detection of breast cancer and frequently traveled to Louisville with her neighbors to undergo examinations with the latest technology.  She was a sixteen year breast cancer survivor.  As chairperson of the Ohio County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee, she worked with the school system to incorporate agricultural-based lesson plans into the elementary curriculum.  In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jerry Coppage and two sisters-in-law, JoAnna Cook and Linda Evans.

Doris is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 62 years, Jerry Shultz.  She was the wonderful mother of a daughter, Tonya Coppage of Beaver Dam; three sons, Joe Shultz (Teresa) of Beaver Dam, Tim Shultz (Michelle) of Bowling Green, and Richard Shultz (Mary) of Versailles.  She was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Brenda Dickey (Rob) of Providence, Utah and Patricia Martinez (Andy) of Livermore; and two brothers-in-law, Brad Cook (Annetta) of Fair Acres, New Mexico and David Shultz (Amy) of Centertown; several nieces and nephews.
