Asa Johnson, Jr.

Asa Johnson, Jr.  86, of Livermore, Kentucky died Friday, March 20, 2015 at the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.  Asa Johnson, Jr. was born April 28, 1928 in Island, Kentucky to the late Asa and Lida Johnson and was married to the former Shirley Ann Rose.   Asa retired from Gibraltar Coal Corporation at the River Queen Mine as an Industrial Electrician and a member of the Green River Chapel General Baptist Church.  He was a Master Mason of Madisonville Lodge #143, a member of Rizpah Shrine Temple in Madisonville, a Scottish Rite Free Mason, a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, and a member of the Order of Moose Lodge 756.  In addition to his parents, Asa was preceded in death by a son, John Johnson; two sisters, Margie Lott and Dewia Lott, and three brothers, Ballard Johnson, James Johnson, and Carl Johnson.

          Survivors include his wife, Shirley Rose Johnson; a sister, Elnora Tichenor of Hammond, Indiana; two step children, Teresa Casebier of Central City and Dan Adler of Hanson; two step grandchildren, Katelyn Casebier and Myles Adler; several nephews and nieces.

          Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel.  Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Muhlenberg County.  Friends may visit with Asa’s family from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Sunday and from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Monday at Musters in Livermore.  Masonic Services will be held at 6:00 P.M. Sunday at Musters in Livermore.

          The Asa Johnson family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Masonic Widows and Orphans Home; 3761 Johnson Hall Drive; Masonic Home, Kentucky  40041.  Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Musters in Livermore.
