Martine Kirtley Gray Murphy 93, of Owensboro, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 22, 2017 in Owensboro. Martine Neal was born January 4, 1924 in South Carrollton, Kentucky to the late Edgar and Rosa Helen Alexander Neal. She was married to Shirley D. Kirtley until his death on January 8, 1947, was later married to Raymond “Toad” Gray, and was later married to John W. Murphy until his death on May 1, 2012. Martine retired as a secretary from A & S Fabricating in Livermore and was a member of Livermore United Methodist Church. She was a 75 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, enjoyed traveling, dancing, and spending time with both her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, Martine was preceded in death by two sons, Doug Kirtley and Greg Gray and by a granddaughter, Cindy Hoagland.
Survivors include two sons, Denny Kirtley (Brenda) of Central City and Keith Gray (Doris) of Thonotosassa, Florida; a daughter, Rose Anne Osteen (Byron Evans) of Versailles; seven step children from her marriage to John Murphy; two daughters-in-law, Lillie Kirtley of Island and Janie McCaslin of Calhoun; eleven grandchildren, Randy Kirtley, Brent Kirtley, Paul Kirtley, Sonya Lee, Jason Gray, Kevin Gray, Kyle Gray, Michael Whitmer, David Whitmer, Aaron Patrick, and J.C. Moore; 24 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Martine’s Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel with the Revs. Tom Eblen and George Phillips officiating. Burial will be in the Island Community Cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with Martine’s family from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday and from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Musters in Livermore.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the loving care given to their mother by Debbie Lear and Irene Brumley.
