Community Involvement

The Muster Family is proud to have served as funeral directors for our community for six generations. We are also honored to support and be a part of several community activities. We hope these functions will help to maintain the community that so many are glad to call home.

Muster Funeral Homes supports and sponsors several community events each year. Some of these events include:

  • Battle of Sacramento.
  • McLean County's American Cancer Society - Relay for Life.
  • Riverside Manor's Senior Prom.
  • Veterans Memorial Balloon Release.
  • Holiday Memorial Service.

Battle of Sacramento.
McLean County and the City of Sacramento host the annual Battle of Sacramento on the actual grounds that the Civil War Battle was held almost 150 years ago. We are proud to be a part of the re-enactment through the use of our funeral tents, our horse-drawn hearse, the use of our formal limousines for re-enactors, and financial contributions.

McLean County's Relay for Life June 7, 2002

McLean County's American Cancer Society
- Relay for Life.

For a relatively small county, McLean County has turned the eyes towards our area with its performance in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. In the second year, McLean County raised more than $74,000.00 to help find a cure for cancer. Muster Funeral Homes participates through corporate sponsorship, staff assistance, and the use of our funeral tents.

If you would be interested in making a contribution or helping with the Relay for Life please feel free to contact Muster Funeral Homes at (270) 273-3124.

Riverside Manor's Senior Prom.
Riverside Manor Health Care Center in Calhoun annually hosts a Senior Prom for its residents and their families. The event gives each family the opportunity to fellowship together and enjoy the night in a special setting. Muster Funeral Homes supports this event through the use of our formal limousines at the prom.

Veteran's Celebration, November 2001

Veterans Memorial Balloon Release.
In celebration and remembrance of Veterans Day on the banks of the Green River at the Livermore Tank Memorial Muster Funeral Homes sponsors a memorial balloon release. The Muster Family automatically sponsors a balloon in memory of each veteran that we have served in the past year. We also provide 200 additional balloons that people in the community sponsor in memory of a veteran or loved one. All donations and contributions go the Livermore Tank Memorial.

For more information on the balloon release, or to sponsor a balloon for the upcoming event contact Bobby Girvin at 278-2520 or Muster Funeral Homes at 278-2337.

Annual Holiday Memorial Service.
In remembrance of each family and to offer support during the upcoming holiday season, Muster Funeral Homes sponsors a community wide Holiday Memorial Service on the first Sunday in December.

During the service, each person in attendance is given a piece of holly in memory of their loved one. Each family then places their pieces of holly in one of two wreaths. The wreaths are then kept at each chapel through the holiday seasons in remembrance of each family.

The service is hosted by the Calhoun Baptist Church. Everyone is invited to attend regardless of when their loss was or if their family was served by another funeral home.

Muster's Holiday Hope Memorial Service

The Muster Family makes a contribution in memory of each family that is included in the service to the local food pantry. If you would like to make an additional donation of non-perishable food items or monetary contributions please contact Martha Bell at 273-3070 or Muster Funeral Homes at 273-3124.
